Lt. Gen. Ravendra Pal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM
1. General RP Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM is an alumuni of St Joseph's Academy (SJA), Dehra Dun. Having done his primary education at Mr. Marshall's Academy, Dehra Dun, he joined SJA in class VII in the year 1973. He was allotted class VII (A). Thereafter, he continued in Section A of all the classes till his selection and move to National Defence Academy (NDA) in the year 1978.
2. Whilst in school, the General Officer excelled in Academics and Sports. He represented the school in basketball, football and athletics. In his penultimate year in school; he was declared the 'Best Athlete' in School Annual Sports of 1977. Mid-way in his Class XII, he was selected for the NDA. In Jul 1978, he left the school and joined the NDA.
3. In 1981, the General Officer graduated from the NDA as Squadron Cadet Captain (SSC) of INDIA Squadron. He continued his exemplary performance in the Indian Military Academy and passed out on 12 Jun 1982, in the SUPER BLOCK as the Academy Cadet Adjutant (ACA).
4. From the IMA, the General Officer was commissioned into First Mechanized Infantry Battalion (1 MADRAS), one of the oldest battalions' of the Indian Army. He excelled in all his courses and held numerous prestigious Command and Staff appointments.
5. The General Officer, Commanded 24 Mechanized Infantry Battalion (Recce & Support) (20 RAJPUT), an armoured brigade, an infantry division, the prestigious Strike Corps and finally the Western Command of the Indian Army. Concurrently in his illustrious career of almost 40 years, the General Officer served in all types of terrains, the UN mission at Angola and numerous important Staff appointments in field formations and the Army HQ. For his exemplary performance and contributions to the Indian Army, the General Officer has been awarded the VSM, AVSM, and PVSM.
6. The General Officer superannuated on 31 Oct 2021 as the Army Commander of the prestigious Western Command of the Indian Army. He has since been appointed as Member of the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) and is currently posted with AFT, Regional Bench, Chandigarh at Chandimandir.
7. Lt Gen RP Singh is ably supported by his wife, Mrs Alka Singh and is blessed with daughter Ms Sahiba: now married to Maj Amit Guha.
