Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, VSM
Air Marshal Manavendra Singh PVSM AVSM VrC VSM was commissioned in the flying branch of IAF on 29 Dec 1982 as a helicopter pilot. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor with vast instructional experience and over 6,600 hours of accident-free flying in various challenging sectors such as the Northeast, the Western Desert, Ladakh & Siachen glacier, Uttrakhand & Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He is a graduate of National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College Wellington, Joint Forces Staff College (USA) and Army War College, Mhow. In his four decades long career, the Air Officer has held numerous challenging Command & Staff appointments. He commanded 115 Helicopter Unit and AF Station Udhampur and later served as Director C412 at HQ integrated Defence Staff. He was the Commander of the IAF Peacekeeping Contingent in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo during 2009-10. After a stint as Principal Director (Intelligence) at Air HQ, he commanded Air Force Station, New Delhi. He was Assistant Chief of lntegrated Defence Staff (Jt Ops) at HQ IDS.
He has had considerable experience of Administration including Legal issues during his appointments as Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration at HQ Eastern Air Command, Senior Air and Administrative Staff Officer at HQ Maintenance Command, Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Southern Air Command and Director General (lnspection & Safety) at Air HQ. He was the AOC-in-C of Southern Air Command. Thereafter he took over the reigns of IAF Training Command & retired as the AOC-in-C.
A recipient of four Presidential Awards for gallantry & meritorious service, he was appointed the Honorary ADC to the President of India on 01 Sep 21.
